The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts provides additional funding for the Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival 2016
On Wednesday 17th February, 2016 Dr the Honourable Nyan Gadsby-Dolly presented a cheque in the amount of TT$ 200,000 to Mr Victor Prescod, the Chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival Association. This additional funding will facilitate the successful running of the 31st Biennial Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival.
Minister Gadsby-Dolly stated that the Ministry valued the hard-work of the Association and reiterated the important role that it played in the development of young people. Given the long history and significant impact of the Festival, the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts was pleased to offer this additional support in response to the deficit faced by the Association. Mr. Prescod was very appreciative of the timely response of the Ministry in ensuring the continuation of this platform for the presentation of local talent.
The Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival Association was incorporated by an Act of Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. For seventy-five years the Association has been promoting and hosting festivals which encourage the appreciation of music by persons of all ages. The 31st Biennial Music Festival commenced on Sunday 14th February 2016 and will conclude with a Gala Closing Ceremony on March 12, 2016.
